HP spins DeepCanyon off

Published on .

Seattle--Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, said it would spin off its DeepCanyon site for Web marketers as an independent company wholly owned by the computer giant. The move is designed to give DeepCanyon, Seattle, autonomy as it builds its community, while also enabling it to retain its 45 employees through stock options. Launched in September, DeepCanyon features online access to market research, and plans to provide other marketing services on its site this year. It was created through HP's Digital Document Services business incubator program.
