What is certain is SyndicateHub is a boon to institutional investors. Nearly all the big ones do business with each of the site’s backers.

"It makes it easier to get all of the information," said Larry Tabb, director of TowerGroup, a Boston e-finance consultancy.

The investment banks, in the meantime, are protecting their turf by making sure clients need to link through SyndicateHub to their respective sites to actually make transactions or do detailed research.

Communicator Inc., a New York-based technology company that operates SyndicateHub, is sending out some 200 e-mails daily to institutional investors, letting them know of the site’s existence and worth. Leo Schlinkert, Communicator’s president-CEO, predicted it will soon have some 8,000 users, the same number that use a similar site it developed, Bond.Hub.
