Hulu on the block, Yahoo among bidders

Los Angeles—Online video service Hulu is on the block and attracting numerous bids, including one from Yahoo Inc., according to published reports. AllThingsD.com reported that Yahoo has bid $600 million to $800 million for Hulu, currently owned by Comcast Corp.'s NBC Universal, News Corp. and Walt Disney Co. Other bidders for Hulu include DirecTV, Time Warner Cable and various private equity companies, according to AllThingsD. Yahoo has been aggressive in its recent acquisitions. Last week the company announced it will acquire microblogging service Tumblr. Other recent acquisitions include social recommendation engine Jybe Inc., information and image sharing company Snip.it and video chat broadcasting app OnTheAir.
