I2 Technologies Inc. inked a deal to work with consultancy A.T. Kearney Inc. to help companies manage their strategic sourcing of direct materials via the Internet. I2 is best known for its supply chain technology, but has been targeting e-procurement with software and e-marketplace technology. Kearney has more than 500 consultants in its sourcing operation, responsible for helping companies improve their procurement of goods. Their combined offering, dubbed 2Source, will combine i2's technology with Kearney's consulting. The alliance will set up i2 as a soup-to-nuts b-to-b technology provider rivaled perhaps only by Oracle Corp. and its own e-marketplace partner, Ariba Inc.
