I2, RightWorks deal nears

Published on .

Dallas--Supply chain specialist i2 Technologies Inc. is close to wrapping up a $250 million deal to buy Internet purchasing company RightWorks Corp., San Jose, Calif. The cash-and-stock deal underscores the strained relationship between partners i2 and Ariba Inc., which last year formed a troika with IBM Corp. to provide end-to-end b-to-b solutions for brick-and-mortar companies, said Tim Clark, senior analyst with Jupiter Media Metrix. AMR Research Inc., Boston, estimates that RightWorks had $36 million in revenue in 2000, a $1,700% increase from a year earlier.
