Dallas, Texas-Supply chain vendor i2 Technologies Inc. wrapped-up its userconference this week with a slew of announcements that position the companyto make its mark in b-to-b. i2 had a busy week, including the announcement of a new version of TradeMatrix, its marketplace platform, featuring new order management, sourcing and buy-side capabilities; creating a new business unit, Infinite Content, that capitalizes on its recent acquisition of catalog provider Aspect Development Inc.; and rolling out a new supplier-enablement program dubbed TradeMatrix Pronto. i2 also cut a co-marketing deal with BroadVision Inc., which recently launched its own e-procurement and e-marketplace platform. Some of the moves seem to increase competition with Ariba Inc., which along with IBM Corp. makes up the so-called e-marketplace "alliance." i2 and Ariba tried to deflect concerns about potential cracks in the alliance, also announcing this week a reseller agreement that finds the two companies marketing each other's products. The two vendors said their alliance has landed more than 25 joint marketplace deals.
