IAB: Internet ad revenue up in first quarter

Published on .

New York--Internet ad revenue reached an estimated $1.7 billion in the first quarter, up 11% over the first quarter of 2002, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Internet Ad Revenue Report.

The report, conducted for the IAB by PricewaterhouseCoopers, was based on self-reported revenue figures from the top 15 online ad sellers, and extrapolated to calculate industry totals.

It was the first time in two years the industry has achieved two consecutive quarterly increases. In the first quarter, Internet ad revenue was up 7% from the fourth quarter of 2002.

The final first-quarter figures will be released in September, when the IAB and PricewaterhouseCoopers report second quarter revenue figures.
