Search advertising continued to be the largest online ad format. Search represented 46% of online advertising revenue last year, when search spending increased 12%. Display advertising (which includes banners, video commercials, sponsorships and rich media) represented 38% of overall online revenue. Total online display ad spending increased 24% over 2009.
