New York—Internet ad revenue reached $4.90 billion in the first quarter, up 26% from the year-earlier period, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“The continued growth of Internet advertising, on top of the record growth of 2006 and despite advertising’s traditional sluggish first quarter, demonstrates the growing significance of interactive advertising to the overall advertising and marketing industry,” said David Silverman, partner-assurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
