IBM to announce major server software upgrade Monday

Somers, N.Y.--IBM Corp. confirmed plans to announce Monday that WebSphere Commerce Suite brand of server software will provide Java support, global commerce capabilities and centralized catalogs when used on IBM iSeries computer hardware. Centralized catalogs, global commerce and Java development capabilities are crucial to b-to-b companies, said Sandy Carter, VP of e-commerce marketing for IBM WebSphere. The upgrade comes on the heels of Commerce One Inc.'s announcement of Microsoft Corp. platform products that provide global exchange capabilities, centralized catalogs and payment processing through Citigroup Inc.
