IBM buys UrbanCode to boost app development

Armonk, N.Y.—IBM Corp. has acquired UrbanCode Inc., which helps companies release and update mobile, social, Big Data and cloud applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In a statement, IBM said that UrbanCode software will allow its customers to launch mobile apps in hours rather than days. The software is also expected to enhance the real-time testing of apps. Customers of UrbanCode, based in Cleveland, include the travel booking company Expedia, Wal-Mart Stores and Wells Fargo & Co.
