Armonk, N.Y.--IBM unit IBM Global Services and Cisco Systems, San Jose, Calif., have struck a deal that will have the two companies jointly developing electronic-commerce software for businesses. The pact also entails the acquisition by Cisco of IBM Network Consulting's routing and intellectual property offerings. ``Through this new alliance, we will provide leadership combining IBM's strength in servers, software, services and technology with Cisco's expertise in networking technology,'' said Selby Wellman, Cisco senior VP-interworks business development, in a statement.
