Armonk, N.Y.--In a deal that underscores its expanding emphasis on the Greater China region, IBM Global Services has entered a broad b-to-b co-marketing and reselling agreement with San Jose-based Tonbu Inc., an Asia-centric provider of product development software and consulting services. IBM Global Services will become a Tonbu preferred technology partner, and the companies will create a marketing team to coordinate joint projects in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. IBM Global Services, which operates in 133 countries and with 150,000 employees is the world's biggest consultancy, is among the keenest of North American technology marketers in China and is one of the few with a comprehensive marketing site with Chinese-language content. Intel Corp., Nortel Networks Inc. and FreeMarkets Inc. have also recently entered China marketing deals.
