IBM introduces quicker Web server

Armonk, N.Y. -- Firing the latest volley in the Internet speed wars, IBM Corp. Tuesday introduced the RS/6000 Model H70, which it bills as "the world's fastest 64-bit, four-way Web server." Designed to speed e-commerce, the server established a new industry record of 11,774 hits per second in the latest SPECweb96 benchmark tests.
