IBM seeks to acquire Sequent Computer Systems

New York--IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y., is negotiating to buy Sequent Computer Systems, according to a report in Tuesday's The Wall Street Journal. "An acquisition would strengthen IBM's line of computer servers, helping it bolster gaps in its product line for servers running both Microsoft Corp.'s Windows NT operating systems and the Unix operating system," The Journal said.
