IBM Services and Fiat in $6.2 billion technology deal

Armonk, N.Y.--IBM Global Services, a unit of IBM Corp., said it has inked a $6.2 billion deal to manage Fiat's technology infrastructure and oversee the approximately 2,600 consultants who work for the European automaker. The deal surpasses the $2.5 billion contract IBM has with U.K. telecom company Cable & Wireless plc and is among the biggest technology outsourcing projects in Europe. IBM said it has $87 billion of services work in the pipeline.
