IBM starts small, midsize business software initiative

Armonk, N.Y.--IBM Corp. announced the launch of the IBM Start Now software line, Linux-based platforms meant to allow small and midsize businesses to manage all aspects of e-commerce. The platform, which will be marketed by IBM and its reseller partners, also includes marketing programs. IBM is trying to take advantage of Linux's popularity with small businesses. According to International Data Corp., small businesses account for 48% of all Linux server installations.
