IBM updates Big Data consolidation software

Published on .

Armonk, N.Y.—IBM Corp. has introduced a new version of its Big Data management software that allows companies to improve search efficiency and better consolidate very large data sets. The new product will be available April 30. The update enables IBM's DB2 10 and InfoSphere Warehouse 10 products to better integrate data systems already in place, compress the data and organize them based on names and keywords, according to IBM. About 100 companies participated in beta-testing the software. IBM said some were able to perform searches up to 10 times faster than before and create 90% more storage space with the updated software.
