Published on .

Somers, N.Y.--IBM Corp. announced that its flagship e-commerce server, WebSphere Commerce V5.4, now supports the open Linux operating system on Intel-based systems. IBM claims the lower total cost of ownership of Linux systems will help smaller companies deploy e-commerce solutions. Earlier, IBM released a Linux version of its e-commerce server for its mainframes. WebSphere Commerce Version 5.4 for Linux supports Red Hat and SuSE Linux, with a starting price of $80,000 per processor for the Professional Edition and $125,000 per processor for the Business Edition.
