Iceman Cometh

Published on .

During his Hall of Fame NBA career, former San Antonio Spurs guard George “The Iceman” Gervin redefined what it meant to be cool on a basketball court. Recently, he joined the board of advisers at NeXplore Corp. to add his swagger to the public relations efforts for NeXplore Search², an interactive Web 2.0 search engine. Introduced in January 2008, NeXplore Search² offers multimedia and social sharing features to give users a more personalized Web browsing experience. According to Web analytics company Compete.com, NeXplore Search² averages more than 5 million unique monthly visitors, a number NeXplore CEO Edward Mandel hopes Gervin will drive up. “We are very excited and proud to have George Gervin on our team. His winning personality and great business acumen will be tremendous assets as we ramp up business- and revenue-growth initiatives,” Mandel said in a news release. Whether Gervin will help NeXplore Search² challenge established engines such as Google or Yahoo remains to be seen. But with the addition of the “Iceman,” NeXplore might have the basketball squad to beat on the search engine summer hoops circuit.
