Bangalore, India—International Data Group announced it is in the process of establishing a direct presence in India. When set up, IDG India will function as a full-service hub for IDG’s global publications, including the launch of a magazine covering outsourcing that will be distributed worldwide.
IDG said it plans to invest about $20 million in India. "India is becoming a major IT market. Its growing influence in the world IT market space makes a direct presence in India a natural and logical choice for IDG," said David Hill, president-CEO of IDG’s international publishing services.
The announcement comes on the heels of IDG’s formation in January of IDG Korea, established through the acquisition of IT World Communications, a Korean media company.
