Published on .

Naperville, Ill.--The American Society of Business Publication Editors announced that Patrick McGovern, International Data Group chairman, is the 2004 winner of the ASBPE Lifetime Achievement Award.

McGovern is to receive the award during the society’s June 10 Eastern Regional Awards of Excellence ceremony in Newton, Mass.

McGovern, who started in computer publishing in 1959 as a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, founded International Data Corp. in 1964. The tech research firm is now a subsidiary of IDG.

McGovern launched Computerworld in 1967, and the publication became the cornerstone on which he built an international publishing operation that began with the Japanese version of the magazine in 1972.
