Framingham, Mass.—Technology content sites are the top resource used by IT and business professionals for keeping up-to-date with technology, according to IDG Enterprise's “The Role & Influence of the Technology Decision-Maker.”
The report found technology content sites were used by 73% of respondents, while peers were cited by 72% and search engines were mentioned by 66% of respondents.
The study also found that the buying process has become more complex, with the average number of influencers at enterprise companies increasing 48% this year to 17.0, up from 11.5 last year. Additionally, the survey found few vendors reached the status of “strategic partners.” For enterprises, just seven of the average 35 IT vendors rose to that level.
The survey was conducted online in March and April. More than 1,140 IT decision-makers from a variety of industries submitted completed responses.
