B-to-b marketers plan to boost spending

Sixty percent of b-to-b marketers plan to increase spending on outbound telemarketing in the next year, according to the Direct Marketing Association’s inaugural "Customer Prospecting and Retention Report," released in late June. The report covers marketing trends including budgeting, customer acquisition, retention, data mining, modeling and segmentation and testing. Fifty-nine percent of respondents said they will increase e-mail spending in the next year, and 53% indicated they will increase direct mail spending.

DMA appoints VP of marketing

The Direct Marketing Association has named Alan Kuritsky as VP-marketing. It also announced the creation of a new marketing organization as part of its membership and market development efforts. Kuritsky, who was previously president of Donnelley Marketing, is in charge of providing marketing support for membership, events, education, research, government affairs, ethics and consumer affairs.

Gupta offers to take infoUSA private

Vin Gupta, founder, chairman and CEO of infoUSA, last month offered to acquire all outstanding publicly held shares of the company and take it private. Gupta, who holds 38% of infoUSA’s common shares, offered stockholders $11.75 per share. InfoUSA has formed a special committee comprised of independent directors to consider the acquisition proposal.

Harte-Hanks creates data quality portal

Direct marketer Harte-Hanks has launched ADQ Direct, a Web portal that provides self-service data quality services for its clients. Those services, which leverage Harte-Hanks’ Advanced Data Quality technology, include verifying, correcting and enhancing multichannel contact information in a client’s data warehouse. The company said the service also ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and industry best practices.

E-Dialog lands OfficeMax account

OfficeMax announced it has selected e-Dialog for its e-mail marketing campaigns. E-Dialog will provide its e-mail marketing platform, as well as strategy and analytics, data, campaign and content management and creative consulting.
