Sterling Commerce to acquire Comergent Sterling Commerce, an AT&T company, announced plans to acquire Redwood, City, Calif.-based Comergent Technologies for $155 million in cash. Under the terms of the deal, Sterling Commerce plans to incorporate Comergent's eBusiness software into its order fulfillment product line. Black Friday sales top Cyber Monday More people shopped from home the day after Thanksgiving than from their work desks the follwing Monday, according to Nielsen// NetRatings. Unique visitors to the Holiday eShopping Index—which comprises more than 120 online marketers—from home that Friday totaled 19.2 million, outnumbering the 16.1 million unique visitors from work on Monday. However, Web traffic from work to the Holiday eShopping Index grew 10% week over week on Monday, and 7% compared with Cyber Monday last year.Lincoln Educational Services names CMO Lincoln Educational Services Corp. announced that Piper Jameson has been named chief marketing officer. Jameson's responsibilities include strategic branding, direct response lead generation, collateral materials, commercial and infomercial production, media buying and external and internal communications for all campuses.
