Published on .

Omaha, Neb.—Vinod Gupta, who founded what became big database holding company Infogroup, and led it for 36 years before being ousted amid controversy, has started a new database company, Database101.com.

According to a report in the Omaha World-Herald, Database101 will research and compile to order business contacts for small businesses and sales professionals. Subscribers can place orders for information, segmented according to such demographic information as age, income and location.

Gupta told the newspaper that Database101 will mine online public databases for its information. Gupta will serve as chairman of the company and will be joined by former Infogroup executives Monica Messer and Fred Vakili.
