Inforte, Ariba win Rochester utility

Chicago--Technology consultants Inforte Corp., Chicago, and Ariba Inc., Mountain View, Calif., said Monday that they've landed a deal with Rochester Gas & Electric Corp. to deploy Internet purchasing systems. The Upstate New York utility plans to use Ariba's Value Chain Management brand of products to connect with its suppliers. The deal stretches Inforte's portfolio of utility clients, which includes Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Power, Nicor Gas in northern Illinois, Northern Indiana Public Service Co., Northern Indiana Telephone Co., San Diego, Calif.-based Sempra Energy and Tucson Electric Power Co.
