InfoSpace taps Allenbaugh as CMO

Bellevue, Wash.—Search engine operator InfoSpace has named Bruce Allenbaugh to the newly created position of CMO. Allenbaugh, who previously worked in senior management at Safeco Corp. and served as VP-marketing for Avenue A (now aQuantive), will be responsible for the company’s direct-to-consumer marketing initiatives.

Separately, InfoSpace said Thursday that it plans to cut 35 jobs, or about 20% of its workforce, and take a fourth-quarter charge of $7 million to $8 million as a result. The company said it expects the cuts to reduce its costs by about $7 million to $9 million.
