Instant messaging gets marketing revamp

Sunnyvale, Calif.--Start-up ActiveBuddy Inc. debuted Wednesday with software designed to make broad use of the instant messenger function of a Web browser. The company said its Instant Messaging Application technology allows marketers and other business managers to develop new applications for deployment using Internet chat protocols. It also includes software for creating and hosting instant messaging applications from a corporate domain. Pricing was not disclosed.
