Chicago—The Integrated Media Consortium, a voluntary buying cooperative for publishing companies, announced Tuesday that it has attracted the 10 charter members it had said it needed to move forward. The IMC is intended to provide volume purchasing for small and midsize publishing companies--those with $3 million to $200 million in annual revenues. Alan Douglas, who is president of Douglas Publications, is chairman of the consortium, and Bill Walker is its president. "Our 10 founding members include Allured Publishing, Douglas Publications, Dowden Health Media, Edgell Communications, Farm Journal Media, Meister Media Worldwide, Northstar Travel Media, NTP Media, Putman Media and Stamats Communications," Walker said. Douglas added, "This should give us a solid foundation from which to launch the consortium and to begin to achieve our goals of leveraging our size with suppliers in printing, paper, fulfillment, freight forwarding, general office supplies, travel services and telephone categories."
