'International Herald Tribune' Web site to merge into NYTimes.com

Published on .

New York—The New York Times plans to combine the International Herald-Tribune Web site (IHT.com) with NYTimes.com, according to various media reports.

News from IHT will be hosted on The New York Times Web site (iht.nytimes.com). The move is designed in part to increase global traffic at NYTimes.com.

The combining of the sites is slated to take place in the spring, according to an internal joint IHT and New York Times memo. “Come launch, NYTimes.com will feature a dynamic new co-branded global edition home page that will feature stories selected for international users. Regular NYTimes.com users will be able to opt-in to that new home page; the IHT.com url will also redirect there,” IHT Publisher Stephen Dunbar-Johnson and NYTimes.com Senior VP-General Manager Vivian Schiller stated in the memo.
