Internet ad revenue hits $14.9 billion in first half

New York—Internet ad revenue reached $14.9 billion in the first half, up 23.2% over the first half of last year, according to a new report from the Interactive Advertising Bureau. The “IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report” was conducted by audit firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Internet ad revenue for the second quarter reached $7.7 billion, up 27.1% over the same period last year, according to the report. Search advertising in the first half reached $7.3 billion, making up nearly half of total Internet advertising, while display advertising reached $5.5 million, accounting for 37% of all online ad spending. Display and search advertising each grew at a rate of about 27% in the first half of the year over the first half last year, according to the report.
