Internet ad revenue surges 33.9% in Q3 to $3.1 billion

 New York—Internet ad revenue totaled $3.1 billion in the third quarter, up 33.9% from $2.3 billion in the year-earlier period, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The IAB said Internet advertising could total more than $12 billion this year, up significantly from $9.6 billion in 2004.

The third quarter was the first in which Internet ad revenue topped $3 billion, the IAB said.

Greg Stuart, president-CEO of the IAB, said traditional marketers increasingly are embracing interactive marketing as a way to engage their customers.

The IAB sponsors the Internet Advertising Revenue Report, which is conducted independently by the New Media Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
