Internet Direct Media rebrands as Widevine Technologies

Published on .

Seattle-Internet Direct Media said Friday that it will begin branding itself under the new name Widevine Technologies. The effort is the result of a branding strategy developed by The Garrigan Lyman Group, which also advised the company to rename its flagship Internet streaming product Cypher. The corporate name and product name are more reflective of the company's work, according to Widevine CEO John Beyer. Widevine sells network services and software that allow companies to send encrypted, streaming media. GLG, Seattle, is attempting to use what it calls Solution Branding to create corporate names and product names that are reflective of each other.
