Internet portals to weather economic storm, according to eMarketer

Published on .

New York—The top four Internet portals—Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL—in aggregate will see 16.2% net revenue growth this year, according to digital marketing and media researcher eMarketer in a forecast released Friday.

Google leads the group, with 27.4% expected growth in online ad revenue, while Yahoo (8.2%) and MSN (14.3%) both will show growth at a healthy rate. Only AOL will see a drop in revenue (-12.5%), eMarketer predicted.

“The continued power of paid search advertising is key here,” said David Hallerman, senior analyst, “since Google’s revenue growth will far outstrip its three rivals.”
