New York--The number of Internet users at work grew 17% in August to 46 million, compared with a year earlier, with female workers leading that growth, according to a Nielsen//NetRatings survey released Thursday. The number of women online grew 23% to 20.4 million, while the number of male surfers rose 12% to 25.3 million in August. Despite the level of growth in women online at work, men averaged more time (31 hours), more sessions and viewed more pages than women (27 hours). Peak surfing hours at work are between 10 a.m. and noon.
