Interpublic to merge FCB, Draft units

New York—Interpublic Group of Cos. plans to merge its ad agency units Draft and FCB, creating a new business unit called Draft FCB Group.

Howard Draft, CEO of Draft, will become chairman-CEO of the new unit. Steve Blamer, president-CEO of FCB, will leave the agency following a transitional period.

The merger will bring together Draft’s direct and behavior-driven marketing services with FCB’s traditional agency expertise.

Jonathan Harries, worldwide creative director at FCB, will become worldwide chief creative officer of the new entity.
