Invensys unit to make major CRM announcement Monday

Published on .

Golden, Colo.--A key business unit of London-based Invensys plc on Monday will formally introduce itself as a competitor in the customer relationship management space. Baan CRM, Golden, Colo., will announce at the Frost & Sullivan Summit for CRM and PRM, scheduled Jan. 13-17 in Scottsdale, Ariz., that it has a new product development and marketing strategy called ``iBaan for CRM.’’ The move thrusts Baan, which has endured painful management and balance-sheet turmoil in recent years, into competition with such computer giants as Siebel Systems Inc., Oracle Corp., SAP AG and PeopleSoft Inc. All of those companies now offer sweeping CRM systems that join sales and financials but also throw different twists of marketing and analysis in the mix. Baan CRM has been known as a specialist in sales force automation and financial transaction software, said Don Brower, VP marketing for the company. The ``iBaan for CRM’’ strategy will entice corporate strategists to buy into more ambitious projects, he said.
