San Bruno, Calif.—Image-based spam has grown from less than 1% of all  in June 2005 to more than 12% this month, according to IronPort Systems, an e-mail security company. IronPort said that represents more than 5 billion image-based spam messages sent daily, 78% of which pass through spam filters. IronPort used data from its SenderBase e-mail traffic monitoring service, which it said represents 25% of the world's e-mail traffic and data from more than 100,000 ISPs, universities and corporations worldwide.
