Ask Jeeves will introduce Japanese b-to-b company

Emeryville, Calif.--Search engine Ask Jeeves Inc. is teaming with Tokyo-based Trans Cosmos Inc. to create Ask Jeeves Japan. The company will provide Japanese corporations with natural-language question answering services designed for business research. Ask Jeeves is the latest among U.S. corporations introducing Japanese projects; others include VerticalNet Corp. and Internet Capital Group. Forrester Research predicts Japanese b-to-b trading will jump from $29 billion this year to $817 billion by 2004.
