Job cuts at CMP Media part of larger marketing strategy

Published on .

Manhasset, N.Y.—CMP Media this week laid off approximately 20 employees from its Enterprise Group, which includes the flagship Information Week, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

The job cuts are part of a larger marketing strategy being deployed by Steve Weitzner, who was appointed CEO in September, to transition CMP away from being an integrated media company and toward a marketing-solutions business, said Alix Raine, a CMP spokeswoman.

Raine could not specify the number of layoffs that occurred or which departments were most affected. However, she said that as part of the transition there are now 90 jobs available companywide.
