New York--CMP Media L.L.C. has begun another round of job cuts amid the deteriorating economy and anemic ad market for technology titles. Alix Raine, a CMP spokeswoman, said the number of job cuts was "not significant" but would not specify how many positions were eliminated or which areas of the company were most affected. Reports peg the number of job cuts at around 200. "We have to monitor our business and make adjustments when necessary," Raine said. The current round of cuts comes on top of a previous round earlier this year. CMP owner United Business Media plc reported a 32% decrease in advertising pages in August and an 18% drop from January to August compared with the same period a year earlier. However, United said CMP's share of the information technology publishing market in August was 27%, compared with 25% in August 2000.
