San Francisco--Juniper Networks Inc., the No. 2 maker of equipment that directs Internet traffic, on Thursday reported a sharply wider quarterly net loss on a 25% drop in revenue because of the downturn in telecommunications spending. Juniper, a rival of Cisco Systems Inc., posted a net loss of $88.3 million, or 24 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $29.7 million, or 9 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenues fell to $152 million from $201.7 million in 2001.
