Jupitermedia acquires Mediabistro.com

Published on .

New York—Jupitermedia Corp., an Internet research company, said last week that it has acquired Mediabistro.com, an online career site for media professionals. Jupitermedia will pay $20 million now and up to an additional $3 million over two years. Mediabistro.com was founded in 1999 by Laurel Touby, who will remain with the company as a senior VP. The Web site includes job postings, educational courses, events, forums and original media content. Its roots date to the early 1990s, when Touby started to arrange after-work mixers for people working in the media business. Media investment bank DeSilva & Phillips represented Mediabistro.com in the transaction.
