New York—Fairchild Fashion Group announced Wednesday that Peter W. Kaplan will be the Condé Nast unit’s next editorial director, effective Aug. 2. In this role, he will oversee Footwear News, Menswear, WWD, Fairchild Books, Fairchild Summits, WWD.com and trade shows.

Kaplan will report to Gina Sanders, president-CEO of Fairchild. He succeeds Patrick McCarthy, currently chairman-editorial director, who will leave the company at the end of the year.

Kaplan has been editorial creative director of Condé Nast Traveler since 2009. Previously, he was editor of The New York Observer.
