Published on .

Research firm Keenan Vision Inc., San Francisco, said Tuesday that if you are in the business of providing sales services to businesses, you better be prepared for a big shift. The firm predicted that Internet exchanges would handle $1.7 trillion in transactions by 2004, or 14.3% of the U.S. gross domestic product. It also said exchanges currently number about 1,000, and will burgeon to 4,070 within four years. Business memberships in the exchanges will skyrocket from 400,000 today to 12.2 million in 2004, the firm predicted.
