New York--KPMG Consulting Inc. confirmed Thursday that it's accelerating the process to change its name because of the turmoil now engulfing the accounting industry. The move comes as leading accounting firm Arthur Andersen L.L.P. may face criminal charges because of its role in the Enron Corp. scandal. KPMG separated itself from former parent KPMG L.L.P. last year, becoming the first consulting arm of the Big Five accounting firms to sell shares to the public. The company said there is no short list yet for the potential new name of the firm. It is soliciting suggestions from its employees as well as professional branding companies.
