Parsippany, N.J.--Quadrant HealthCom, publisher of The Female Patient, announced Tuesday that it has acquired Dowden Professional Publications from Lebhar-Friedman, publisher of Nation's Restaurant News.

With the deal, Quadrant takes control of four medical journals and an events group. The journals are: OBG Management, Current Psychiatry, and The Journal of Family Practice. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Quadrant Healthcom said about 30 Dowden Professional Publications staffers will relocate from Montvale, N.J., to Quadrant's headquarters in Parsippany.

“Dowden has long enjoyed a deserved reputation for high-quality publications run by talented staff, and we look forward to further growth organically and through add-on acquisitions,” Stephen Stoneburn, Quadrant HealthCom president, said in a statement.

Roger Friedman, president of Lebhar-Friedman, said in a statement, “The sale of these properties enables us to concentrate our media strategies. The former Dowden publications will be better positioned to grow and serve their markets under Quadrant management.”

Lebhar-Friedman acquired the Dowden properties in 2005. DeSilva & Phillips advised Lebhar-Friedman in the transaction.
