The Limited links distribution center, stores

Published on .

New Orleans--Inventory management specialist E3 Corp., Marietta, Ga., has installed a system for Columbus, Ohio-based retailer The Limited Inc. that provides distribution centers with information on retail sales from 2,826 stores. The system is Web-based and should allow The Limited to improve its customer service, reduce unprofitable inventory and inform 2,800 suppliers of real-time demand for products. To date, retailers have talked about using the Web to improve distribution, but few have succeeded. Instead, many retailers rely on data crunched nightly by old-fashioned systems.
