LinkedIn debuts content Channels

Published on .

San Francisco—LinkedIn is rolling out a new feature for its LinkedIn Today pages called Channels that aggregates content according to broad topics rather than industry sectors. The initial 20 Channels include Healthcare, Professional Women, Social Media, Law & Government and Best Advice, with more to be added regularly. Once members choose to follow particular Channels, they will automatically see updates from them within their home page content streams. The streams will include aggregated news from media brands, posts from LinkedIn's cadre of Top Influencers and content from SlideShare, which LinkedIn acquired a year ago. The new features are rolling out to all English-speaking members this week, according to a blog post by Kevin Gu, associate product manager. LinkedIn Today, the curated news section of the professional networking platform, debuted two years ago.
